Email Cloaker Updates
Saturday, December 27, 2003
First off, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. It was for me, and the well wishes I got from some of you were heart-warming.
We've made some changes at EmailCloaker.com that you should know about. First is the way that you log in to change your user settings, like the email address that your cloaked address points to. One user pointed out to me that if you forget your ID, it's impossible to log in. (Of course, you can retrieve your password easily!) Good point!
Now, instead of using your ID to log in, you will use your real email address to identify your account. I'm pretty sure that you'll not forget your real email address! If you do forget your cloaked address, however, just log in and grab it.
The second change that we made was adding the requirement for each email address to be validated before a cloaked address was made available. This will eliminate the false addresses and user errors that were occurring, as well as allow us to avoid having email addresses added to the database against the owner's will.
Now, when you submit an email address for cloaking, the system will attempt to confirm that address as valid and will also send a validation message to that address. You will need to click the link within that message to confirm your email address and activate your cloaked address.
Lastly, the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page has been updated. Please let us know if you have any questions that aren't addressed there.
